Home Sweet Home and February Plans

I feel as if I haven't sat in front of my computer and/or in my craft room for years! If feels nice <smiling>.

It's been a long, busy and productive week taking care of family business and throwing in a quick 2 night/3 day Santa Barbara camp trip with the hubby.

Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday! I grew up watching football with my dad. His favorite team was the Rams. So, even tho' I'll be cheering on the Seattle Seahawks on the couch by myself it'll still be fun. Kyle and Jordan don't like to watch football, although Jordan did try playing for a year, and my husband will probably join me about the 4 th quarter. Go SEAHAWKS!

Crafting plans for February:

Valentine's Day Card and Crafts Series (tentative) February 2-6. I say tentative because as of today I do not have a full (personal) calendar but you never know what is going to happen.
I have plenty of cards left over from the store I sold in but want to make a few more to add to my Senior Center donation. I haven't really been able to come up with any ideas for Crafts...Home Decor...because I've been out of my craft room for so long. Who knows?

All Day Scrapbooking: I've signed up for a 8:00 a.m. - midnight crop on 2/21. I love doing these crops. I get so much done plus they give away prizes, have raffles, etc. AND it's a good excuse to eat chocolate....tee hee....

Design Teams
Just-A-Scrappin Design Team Challenges this month are:
Feb. 5 - Hearts
Feb. 12 - buttons and bows
Feb. 19 - brown and pink
Feb. 26 - use lace

Cardz TV Cards Design Team Challenges this month are:
Feb. 13 - Create a card using ribbon
Feb. 26 - Create a card using clovers and shamrocks

Senior Center Activity: I'm designing, per the seniors' request, a St. Patrick's Day Wreath. The class in on February 18. I'll do a video showing the sample then take a picture of us all and our finished creations to post on this blog.

Mom comes to visit: Feb. 26-29. Now that my grandma is in a skilled nursing home my mom wants to try and come out every month for 3-4 days to visit her. It's a 4 hour drive round trip so we'll stay a couple of nights.

I am blessed to have such a wonderful family and amazing friends.

Scrapbook Layout - Pysanksy

I'm just taking a moment to update my blog from the last few creations I've done.

This is what I call a "Quirky" layout. I call it that because it's a completely different design that I've ever done.

Accessing your list of linked and subscribed cartridges on CDS

I just recently subscribed to the Cricut Design Space. I now have access to 560 cartridges. I wanted a list of all the cartridges I had linked and that I can access as a subscription "member" so, I contacted Cricut Support and here's what they said:

Go to www.cricut.com. Sign in. Once you see your name up in the top right corner click on that. In the left margin you see a list of options. Click on "linked cartridges." You'll see the entire list of all the cartridges you've linked and if you're a subscriber the other cartridges that are available to you.

Well, I hope this is helpful!

Hugs,
Kim

Just A Scrappin Design Team Weekly Challenge - Make a Pop Up card

Hey there fellow crafters! For this week's Just-A-Scrappin (www.just-a-scrappin.blogspot.com) Design Team Challenge we're making Pop Up Cards.

I tried making a card from the Everyday Pop Up cards and the Cricut Design Space but just couldn't figure it out. I also went into my Silhouette Library and found a really cute one but my Silhouette has officially died on me. So, I made a card all by myself. Third times a charm, right?

Materials used:
Card Base: Pink Recollections (5 1/2 x 4 1/4)
Insert: White Card stock (65 lb bought at Staples)
Cupcake Punch: Martha Stewart
Happy Birthday Stamp: Studio G
Washi: Recollections

Just-A-Scrappin Design Team Weekly Challenge - Use Your Dies

Hi everyone! For the Just-A-Scrappin Design Team (www.just-a-scrappin.blogspot.com) challenge this week we are making projects using our dies. Honestly, I had to dust off the 'ol dies but found one that I really like. It's a sizzix die and stamp set. If you have a moment to check out the video I talk more about it.
I've created this for my Grandma (soon to be 99). She became ill and is now in a WONDERFUL nursing home. I hope it will make her happy and inspire her to keep working hard.

Materials used:
Card Base: Purple Coordinations
Layer: Yellow Coordinations
Die and Stamp Set: Sizzix
Sentiment Stamp: CTHM

Here's how I made it.

New Year's Eve Napkin Ring Holders

Well, it's only 8 days after New Year's eve but I wanted to share this fun project with you.

I had originally planned on having steak and lobster (the small lobster tails go on sale for $5 each this time of year) but ended up making a Japanese style dinner. We have a store in town, Whole Foods, that sells sushi grade salmon and tuna.

I made shrimp tempura, salmon belly (some with caviar and some without), ahi tuna, spicy tuna rolls, crab and tuna rolls and seared tuna. I also made miso soup. It takes a while to make all this but well worth it.

Here's how I made the napkin ring holders.

Scrapbook Layout - Flower Power

I'm late on posting this. One of my New Year's resolutions are to keep my blog current with what I post on youtube. Well, I'll start tomorrow....cause I haven't done this yet. LOL.....

Spring came early February (2014) because it was so hot here in Central California. The poor flowers were very confused. It seemed like a worthy scrapbooking event.
I used a new technique that I learned from the Craftsy.com class I signed up for. You'll see how it was done in the video below.

Here's how I did it:
