Happy Thanksgiving

I'm on vacation from crafting until December 3rd but wanted to stop by and catch you all up.

Personal news: I'm enjoying my visit with my mom just hanging out. Sunday I'll be flying home with her to Nevada. We're a little concerned about the weather. There's supposed to be a big storm heading in.

On our way back to my home, from visiting my grandma in Northern California, we stopped off at the Indian Chumash Casino. My mom hit a jackpot for $350 and I hit one for $550! It was hilarious.  I'm not a gambler at all so winning this was a blast.

We've put the turkey out to thaw and are ready to get cooking tomorrow! I can't wait to consume the wonderful aromas of the season oh, and the food too!

Crafting news: my girlfriend offered to sell my cards and mini scrapbooks at her weekend boutique while I was at my grandma's. She sold $82.00 worth of product and I got 3 new custom order requests.

I'm feeling humble and blessed.

Hugs and smiles to all,

Kim

Christmas 2014 Cards and Crafts Series - Christmas Tree Gift Bag

I'll be teaching a class at the local Senior center next month. They requested to create gift bags. This is the first design I've come up with. It can probably be used for a young person. I'm going to create another one that is more for an adult.

Materials used:
Bag: Michaels brand 10 x 8
Merry & Bright: CTMH - Artbooking
Snowflakes: Winter Lace
Tree: Create A Critter 2
Presents: Celebration

Here's how I made it:

Hugs!

Kim

Thank You tags

My girlfriend, Cynthia, has been looking for a job for a long time. It's very difficult for women our age to find work. But, this hasn't stopped her. Ever since she was a little girl she and her mom used to make homemade flan. I have to tell you that it is the best flan you will ever have. I wish you lived closer so that I could share it with you. Trust me, you'd be hooked.
So, she's getting orders in and working like crazy fulfilling them. I made her some "Thank You" tags to put on her delivery bags.
This is a cut from the Silhouette library. I cut them at 3 1/2 inches but think next time I'll make them bigger. The words didn't cut out so well on the craft card stock so I had to manually pick the paper out. I put a back on it to make it look more decorative plus  added festive colored twine. I used a Fiskars flower punch and glued a green flower on the right side.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Kim

Feminine Birthday Card

Here's a birthday card I made, per request of my friend Renee, for a co-worker of hers. I think it has a subtle vintage appeal. I got my inspiration from Pinterest. There were several cards that had this similar design.

Here's what I used to make it:
Card Base: 110 lb white cardstock
Layer 1: My Mind's Eye "Cherish" cut at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. I lightly inked the edges with Tim Holtz Spun Sugar distress ink.
Layer 2: The flip side of the My Mind's Eye paper cut at 5 1/4 x 4. I lightly inked that with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo.
Cream Lace: I bought at Joanns
Plum Lace: This was in my scraps
Die cut: Spellbinders. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink.
Pearl embellishments: Recollections
Stamp: Ugh..not sure actually

Sorry, no video....

Kim

Haunted Hospital at the Davenport's House

Last year I was very sad because my two boys wanted nothing to do with Halloween. Well, Kyle made up for it this year.
He went to the Halloween Spirit shop and bought some body parts other creepy stuff. His friends, Zach and Cade, helped him set up a Haunted Hospital in our garage. They put up sheets to hide all of our junk in our garage but first they splattered fake blood that Kyle made (chef at heart). Then they turned on the Haunted sounds and fog machine. Kyle is a a Plague doctor and Zach is a troll (funny because Zach is 6'4 and 280 pounds. Cade hid behind the sheets and used one of the arm/hand body parts to poke the visitors.
The creepy part of this is that the lady's (dead head) head look like me! Yikes!
They had so much fun passing out the candy and scaring the neighbors. These pictures will be fun to scrapbook!
