Paper, Embellishments, Die Cut machines....Oh my!

Well, I spent almost 3 hours yesterday going through all my craft stuff and have decided that I need to "Let It Go." Are you now singing the song from The Frozen? Seriously, I have duplicates of paper pads, paper packs, tons of embellishments...the list goes on (well, I haven't made a list yet). So, Saturday September 6 I will do a youtube video and post here on my blog all the things for sale.
I'll do all the financial transactions through Paypal. You don't need to have a Paypal account tho'.

Thanks all!

Updating my blog

Hi all. I'm in the process of updating my blog i.e., adding labels. You know just kind of cleaning house a bit. I have over 400 entries so it may take me a few days to put everything in it's proper spot. Thanks for being patient and a BIG thank you to Lindsey Cowan for showing me how to do this.

As of November 1, 2014, my website www.cardcreationsbykim.com will no longer be "in service". I'm going to be using my blog for projects I create and also for items that are for sale. If I make an item that is for sale the cost of it will be in the title then put in the appropriate label. I accept Paypal payments.

So, I hope to get this wrapped up soon and back to creating my Thanksgiving cards!

Hugs,

Kimberly

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog #225 - Back to School

Hey there! Well, by now all of the kids, and in my case adults (hubby and sons) are back to school. Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog's challenge this week is Back To School.

I made this card in a girl and boy version and thought I'd submit it to the blog. I'm still absolutely loving my Cricut Explore and using the Cricut Design Space.

Here's what I used to make it:
Lettering: Don Juan. I welded the letters and cut them at 1 inch. The boy card I used my white gel pen for some extra accent and for the girl one I inked the edges with Tim Holtz black Soot.
Card Base: DCWV. These came in a box with envelopes.
Fish: Create A Critter. I added some white gel pen dots on boy fish and a pink bow with pearl on the girl fish.
Sandcastle: Create A Critter. I cut this out at 2 inches.
Seaweed: Create A Critter. I cut these out at 1 1/2 inches using green glitter paper from Michaels.
Starfish: Create A Critter. I cut these out at 1/2 inch using coral and yellow glitter paper.
Bling: Recollections

Halloween Cards

FYI: I won't be making any Halloween cards this year. I had quite a few left over from the inventory I had when I was selling them in a local store here. Halloween isn't really a card giving holiday but they are super fun to make!
I will be donating the cards to our Senior Center here in town. I'm sure the seniors will be able to use them for sending out to their family and friends.
For inspiration, you can go onto my website www.cardcreationsbykim.com. They all say "sold out."

Hugs and have a sun shiny day!

I bought the paper pack and embellishments through Crafty Steals (www.craftysteals.com).

Card Making and teaching classes for the Senior Center

My son, Kyle, has started this morning doing Meals on Wheels for our local Senior Center. I'm so proud of him.
He asked that I go with him yesterday to get signed up. While he was filling out the paperwork I was talking with the Director about my crafting passion and asked if she thought the Seniors would be interested in doing a card making class. She loved the idea! I'll probably do one in October for Thanksgiving Cards and one in November for Christmas Cards. I'm so excited.
The bonus is that I am going to be donating the cards I've made for the store I used to sell my cards at that went out of business. I'll be making some additional youth birthday cards, get well and thinking of you cards to add to it.
Thanks for stopping by and have a sun shiny day!

Hi All!
Here's the card I've made for this week's Just-A-Scrappin (www.just-a-scrappin.blogspot.com). My house was too chaotic for me to make a video on how I did this card but it's actually pretty simple and will be easy to explain.

Card base: 110lb weight Recollections Cream colored card stock
Layer 1: Brown Bazzill (5 1/4 x 4)
Layer 2: Recollections Cream colored card stock (5 x 3 3/4)
Sun: Fiskars Flower Garden stamp set
Giraffe and "So Wild": Recollections
Dirt and Grass: Kittie Kits by Kittie Caracciolo
Happy Birthday: Recollections

I used a variety of copic markers to color in the images.

Thanks all for stopping by!

Back To School - Gift Box Back Pack

I finished up the 35 Back Pack Gift Boxes for my friend, Kate. She really liked them!
There were a couple of things on this project that I struggled with. One was how to close the top. As you can see by the picture I ended up using twine. I had to punch two holes in the pocket of the backpack, string the twine through then tie it in a bow. This isn't going to be easy for the 4th graders to open and close but I just couldn't think of anything else to do. The second thing was how to keep the pocket closed. I put the Welcome Back on it with foam tape so all they need to do is just untuck it.
I didn't take a picture of the back but I'll explain what I did. I cut 2 each of 1/2 inch strips of black paper and adhered them on so they looked like straps.
In the end I think they turned out cute.

Where to begin?

You've found some time in your busy day to have some creative time. Where do you begin? Let's say you've decided to do a scrapbook layout. You look around your craft room at all the paper, embellishments, ribbon, punches, stamps, etc. Then, you look at our Cricut and/or Silhouette. There are thousands of "things" you can add to your layout....sigh...How do you start?

Curious,

Kim
