Friday Fun Day- Make A Gift Bag

Here's the last Daily Motivational Project for the week. It's Friday Fun Day! Anything goes for these projects. Today, I've made a gift bag. It's fun, quick and easy. If you'd like to see how this was made stop by www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation

For this one I did not add a sentiment.

This is another design that I wanted to share with you. I added Best Wishes (Silhouette Cameo image)

Here's where I would describe how I create these gifts bags but it's just not possible to explain it so, just click on the link above and you'll be able to watch everything.

Thanks for stopping by and have a sun shiny day.

Techy Thursday - Make A Stencil

Hi and welcome to the Daily Motivational Project. Today is Techy Thursday. Now, there's only a portion of this video that is "techy" and that is how to create a design, using the Silhouette Cameo, that will then be a stencil. Here are a few photos of the process. To see how it was all put together go to www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation.

Just to test out the design, I first cut it out on black card stock.

Then I cut it out on the stencil paper/plastic.

Here's how it turned out. I used Tim Holtz distrees ink (orange marmalade, concord grape and yellow mustard). The result using a blending tool was that the colors were light. I then tried the finger dobber and was able to get the color a little brighter plus I was able to get into the nooks and crannies. I wanted to see what it would look like if I used the distress pen (yellow mustard) and colored it in. All in all, I liked the result and am looking forward to making more of my own designs of stencils.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a sun shiny day!

Just-A-Scrappin Design Team Challenge - Anything Goes Using Layers

You can layer paper, ribbon, almost anything! For this card, I layered paper and ribbon AND used my new Janome Sew Mini. It's the first time I've used it so I wasn't really sure what setting to put it on. Next time, I'm going to do a bigger stitch. I created this card on www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation. At first, I had decided not to do the additional stick on the brown lace but went back and did it anyway. I like where I stitched it but am definitely changing the stitch design next time.

Here's what I used to create it:
Card Base: Recollections craft card stock (5 1/2 x 4)
Brown Layer: From my stash
Yellow Layer: From my stash
Brown Lace: From Beverly's
White Lace: From JoAnns
Sentiment: "Amazing" is a die cut off my Silhouette Cameo. I cut it out once in white and once in yellow.

Thanks "sew" much for stopping by (no pun intended..lol). Have a sun shiny day!

Friday Fun Day - Sweet Tooth Treat Boxes

Everyday that you're crafting is a fun day, right? Well, these pie shaped treat boxes from the Sweet Tooth Treat Box Cricut cartridge are so adorable. If you like to see how I've created them just head on over to www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation.

I made two sizes. The little one is cut at 6 inches and fits 3 mini cupcakes or muffins..whatever you'd like. The big one is cut at 10 inches and fits 3 medium cupcakes. When you cut the insert, drop it down 1/4 inch in size or it'll be too big.
The paper is from Recollections.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Techy Thursday - Edge to Edge

Hi all and welcome to the first week of Techy Thursday. Now, I did a video on my you tube channel (www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation) on how to do a few things on the Cricut Craft Room but focused on the cuts of the Edge to Edge Cricut cartridge.
If you use the cartridge directly and are trying to cut an overlay for a card, for example a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, and you chose the 5 1/2 inch size it will cut the image (square) in a perfect 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch overlay. If you're wanting to alter the size to fit a card you'll need to do this on your Gypsy or Cricut Craft Room.
These images can be used in so many ways....a photo mat, a stencil, a card overlay, a layout overlay, etc...
If you create something from this cartridge I would love to see it! You can email me the picture to www.cardcreationsbykim.com. Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to check out the video on youtube.
Hugs,
Kimberly

Mixed Media Monday - Valentine's Day Cards and Projects Series #9 (ICWIC)

Whew! The title is a mouthful, right. Well, I'm killing 3 birds with one stone (that saying always makes me sad cause I'm a huge animal lover). This project is the first of the Daily Motivation Project, #9 of the Valentine's Day Cards and Projects Series and my Google + ICWIC (mixed media and art journaling).

I'm still a little out of my comfort zone with mixed media but am having a blast trying it. I wasn't able to finish the full project on video www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation. Here is a picture of the finished project.

Here's what I added:

Valentine's Day Cards and Projects #8 - Quill you be mine (Paper Smooches Design Team Call)

Papers Smooches (www.papersmooches.blogspot.com) has the most adorable stamps and how convenient that you can buy the die cuts that coordinate with them. They have put out a design team call which I thought, "Gosh, I'm up for the challenge." I had actually bought the "Love-Struck" stamp set a few days ago (and by the way I got it the next day) so I've made this card for the design team call and for the series I'm doing.
If you like to see how I've made this card visit www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation.

This will be my last blog entry until Monday. It's been a great week doing the Valentine's Cards and Projects Series Marathon. I've got a fun weekend planned with friends and family. So, see you all next week.

Here's how I created this:
Card Base: Recollections 5 1/2 x 4
Layer 1: Cream colored card stock cut slightly smaller than the case base.
Layer 2: Recollections 6 x 6 paper stack "Love". Cut slightly smaller than the layer 1. This layer has pop ups in the back to lift it a bit.
Punch: 2 1/2 inch EK Success circle punch.
Stamps: Paper Smooches "Love Struck". I used Copic markers to color the cute little Cupid and hand cut him out. On the inside I stamped the word Valentine on both the card and a piece of masking strip. I cut the word Valentine out toward the last few letters, placed it on the stamped word then stamped the target and lifted the mask up. I cut a strip of 3 x 3/4 and stamped "Quill You Be Mine." Using my mini score board and stylus I made an embossed edge around the words.
Quilling: I used The Paper Company paper strips to quill shape the hearts. I added each of them to a layer of cream card stock to give them more dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a sun shiny day!

Valentine's Day Cards and Projects Series #7 - Tea Bag Holder

I've used my "Sweet Treat Sweetie" stamp set from Avocado Arts (www.avocadoarts.com) to create the tag for inside this really cute tea bag holder. There are so many different designs of tea bag holders out there. This one was a bit challenging for me in the beginning but it was worth it. Now, I did do a video on this (www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation) but I gave the wrong score line instructions. So, see below for the correct information.

Card stock: You should use double sided card stock for this design.
On the left is Stampin' Up card stock. I bought this from Janis (www.janislewis.stampinup.net)
On the right is Martha Stewart Valentine's themed paper

Correction for the score lines:
On the 12 " side score at 1 1/4,  2 1/2,  5,  7,  9 1/2.
On the 8 1/2 side score it at 2 1/2 and 6.

Trying to explain the rest of the process in words is difficult so if you don't mind, go ahead and click on my link above to see how it's done.

Thanks and I hope you're having a sun shiny day.

Just-A-Scrappin Design Team Challenge and Valentine's Day Card and Project Series #3 - Be Mine

I decided to go through all my Cricut cartridges, from A to Z, to find Valentine's Day themed images and/or die cuts. Well, I got as far as the CTMH Artist and stopped. This cartridge has cards, cupcake wrappers, treat boxes and more! So, to start I've made this little box. Now as I mentioned it is also what I'm submitting this for the Just-A-Scrappin www.just-a-scrappin.blogspot.com design team challenge this week (anything goes using Chevron).

You may notice that the box looks slightly different than the finished product on my video www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation. I didn't like how the bow turned out so I went ahead and tied it on the bow maker, pulled the tails through the back loosely knotted it. I also cut a new piece of Chevron for the very front panel since that one was cut too small and glued on crooked.

Here are the details ~
Cricut cartridge: CTMH Artiste. This box was cut at 5 1/4 (fit to page) using smooth white card stock.
Chevron paper: was from a paper pad (probably Recollections). I cut each panel to fit the
front, sides and back of the box. Some adjustments may need to be made..front = 3 1/2 w x 3 h,
      side(s)= 1 1/2 x 3 h and the back = 3 1/2 w x 4 h.
Sentiment: CTHM Artiste. I cut it out on shiny, smooth card stock at 1 1/2 inches.
Heart: CTHM Artiste. 2 1/4 "shadow" and 2 in. white.
Button: Recollections
Strip at the top: Martha Stewart punch 3 1/2" long.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a sun shiny day.

ICWIC Mixed Media Tag #1 - Be My Valentine

Here I am venturing out a bit from card making and scrapbooking. I was invited to join a blog "ICWIC" which is all about mixed media and art journaling. I am a huge fan of mixed media and have dabbled in it a bit myself. I do have a lot to learn and will be inspired by the other artists on this blog.

Here's what I've created for my first project. If you'd like to see how I did it visit www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation

Here's how I did it:
Tag: Inksentials 6 1/4 x 3.
Step 1: Heat embossed "Be My Valentine".
Step 2: Embossed it with Cuttblebug's heart folder.
Step 3: Using Heidi Swaps stencil I applied Gesso.
Step 4: Heat dried the Gesso then distressed with Tim Holtz tea bag, red brick and spun sugar.
Step 4: Used the Heart Spellbinders die cut to cut out the adhesive backed cork shaped hearts. Distressed inked the edges with Tim Holtz Red Brick distress ink.
Step 5: Applied the metal photo corners, heart lock and key with 450 adhevise glue
Step 6: Added two buttons
Step 7: Placed a Pink heart pin through the largest heart

Clap: 2 H x 2 W. I hand cut a piece of white card stock to go behind it.

Valentine's Paper

I'm really having a hard time finding Valentine's Paper. I was surprised Michaels and JoAnns doesn't have much to chose from. Has anyone made their own paper before? Maybe using white, pink or red paper and stamps?

Thanks,

Note Cards Made From A Gift Bag

I got home from my birthday dinner and at the front door sat a beautiful gift bag from my friend. Nina. Inside was a cute coffee mug with a miniature schnauzer on it and a delicious piece of baklava. She's just so sweet. I had sent her a thank you card for the Christmas gift she gave me so I decided to do something different to thank her for this gift.

I made her note cards out of the gift bag. The design was so that it had 3 1/4 x 4 1/2  inch squares with a butterfly design in each one. I then used the rope that was on the bag to tie the note cards together.

The print was done from my Silhouette (I promise to do a tutorial soon). To see how I created these watch the video on www.youtube.com/sunshinecreation.

Thanks for stopping by and have a sun shiny day!
