Fundraiser Boutique Results

Good News. Bad News. I'll start with the bad news...the turn out wasn't as expected. Good News is that I sold one of my Halloween Banners, met a lot of really great men and women (vendors) and my $60 vendor fee I paid will go to the High School's Choir program. One of the vendors loved my mini albums and asked if I'd do one for her new born baby grandson. Fun, right? More good news. I won't need to do a lot Christmas gift shopping for not just family but the mail carrier, milk man, gardener, pool guy...well you get it. I'm going to make chocolate chip cookies and put them in the Halloween Treat Boxes I made and give them to the cute little neighbor kids that live next door and across the street from me. So, everything will be put to good use.
Next week, I'm making 90 Halloween pencil toppers for my teacher friend and co-teachers's 2nd grade classes for their Halloween Parties.. I LOVE the Halloween characters in Paper Doll Dress Up Cricut cartridge but I don't have that one. Can you believe it? I've reached out to a few of my friends to see if I can borrow one. I've just signed up for the Cricut Craft Room but haven't figured out how I can just buy a few of the characters. I don't want the whole cartridge. Do any of you know how?
After Halloween, you won't hear from me a whole lot. My mom is coming to town to see the doctors here in California. The doctors in Nevada are not helping her get better so she's going to stay here for a bit. My craft room is also the guest room so once the hide a bed is pulled out I can't get to my stuff. I want to try and get some Thanksgiving cards done but we'll see what happens.
All of the scrapbook mini albums, altered purses and mini drawers are for sale so if you know anyone that might be interested just let me know.
Hugs and have a sunshiny day!

Fundraiser Boutique

Well, one week from today is a the high school's fundraiser boutique. Although I've got a lot done I still have so many more projects I'd like to complete. I plan Friday to do a video of all the items I'll be selling. I'm excited but kind of feeling anxious about whether all of it is going to sell or not. I'm hopeful but realistic because as you all know handmade items don't always sell. It can be discouraging but I try to look at it as I sure had fun creating everything and will use the items left over for gifts to my friends and family. Stay tuned!
Thanks all for stopping by and have a sunshiny day.

Altered Purse Box - Hello Kitty

I'm still working on projects for my son's high school fundraiser they're having next Saturday. Here's is an altered purse box that I've done using Hello Kitty paper. Who doesn't like Hello Kitty, right?
Here's how I made it and then some pictures. Thanks so much for stopping by!

I bought the pine box at Michaels. The first thing to do with these boxes is to primer it. Then you can paint it. Acrylic paint works good but if you can find some "wood" paint that would be even better. As I explained in the video, I used a stencil, stickles, chipboard letters, Spellbinders scallop die (for the note cards) and some Recollection flowers. These purse boxes really are fun to alter.
I hope you have a sunshiny day!

Just-A-Scrappin Design Team Weekly Challenge - All About Me

Hey there!
This week we've been challenged to create a project that is all about who we are. I am a wife, mom, nurse, taxi, household financer, housekeeper, crafter..well, the list goes on. For this project I chose to make a project that focuses on my crafting.

This little box is one of my favorites. I cut it at "fit to page" (12 1/2 inches) using the Plantin School Book. The Graphic 45 paper is so, so cute. I'm a huge fan of sunflowers. The "Scrap Queen" was cut at 2 inches using Lovely Floral. The green ribbon was in my scrap bin but I'm pretty sure it is Offray. The supplies and tools are just for looks.
Although I'd love to spend all my free hours (cough, cough what's that?) crafting I do need to attend to my daily responsibilities. I'm not complaining. I love my family and my dogs and wouldn't have it any other way but to love and take care of them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Halloween Treat Bag - Li'l Witchy Poos Broom

There are so many creative treat bags out there in the crafting world. Here's an idea for a treat bag that has popcorn and a pretzel! Watch how I've made it....

It's ok if you don't have the Mini Monsters Cricut cartridge. Any little cutie patutie cartridge will do! It's super easy for both an experienced crafter or for kids to do! Have fun!

Just A Scrapppin Design Team Weekly Challenge - Create Something Vintage (anything goes)

Hi all you crafters. For the design team challenge this week we are to create something vintage (anything goes). Well, I think this is as vintage as I know how to do. I've been really enjoying creating altered boxes. This one here will be for sale at my son's high school's fundraiser.

I bought this mini chest of drawers at JoAnns. It's made of raw pine.
It should have put primer on it first so that the acrylic paint didn't soak in. I just ended up putting on a few coats of Craftsmart brown acrylic paint.
You want to paint the entire box first. Let it dry for a good 2 hours then you can add your paper.
I used My Mind's Eye and inked all the edges with Tim Holtz tea die distress ink.
Each box is made slightly different but here are the genera measurements.
   Top: 5 1/2 x 3 1/2
   Sides: 7 x 3 1/4
   Back: 6 1/2 x 4 3/4
   Bottom Strip: (front & back) 5 3/4 x 3/4
                         (sides) 3 3/4 x 3/4
   Drawers: (inside) 4 1/4 x 2 1/4
(front) 4 3/4 x 2. You'll need to make a hole where the knob is.
I used by Spellbinders scallop die.
Flowers ~ Leeza Gibbons, Prima and one from my stash.
   Bling ~ Recollections

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a sunshiny day!

Altered Box - Butterflies

Hey crafters! I uploaded a couple youtube videos showing how I created this box (altered box tutorial - part 1 and altered box tutorial - part 2). I went over my time on part 2 so I decided to post pictures.
In the video I mentioned needing ideas on adding a vine affect. I ended up using my Viva Pearl Pens. So, here are the pics.

I bought this mini chest of drawers at JoAnns. It's made of raw pine.
First, I put Zinsser primer on it. It's messy so wear gloves and spray it outside. Putting this on prevents the paint from soaking into the wood.
Paint the box before adhering the paper. Let it sit for a good 2 hours. I used Artist's Loft "parchment" acrylic paint.
I used My Mind's Eye and inked the edges with Tim Holtz spiced marmalade. Here are the measurements. Keep in mind that each box is manufactured differently so you may need to alter your cuts.
Top: 5 1/2 x 3 1/2
Sides: 7 x 3 1/4
Back: 6 1/2 x 4 3/4
Bottom: front and back ~ 5 3/4 x 3/4
             sides ~ 3 1/4 x 3/4
Inside Drawer: 4 1/4 x 2 1/4
Front of Drawer: 4 3/4 x 2
Flowers and Misc:
The flowers are Michaels brand. The blue one is Petaloo. I used Viva Pearl drops for the vine. For the leaves I used a Spellbinders die cut. The butterflies are Michaels brand.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a sunshiny day!

Belated Birthday Cards

Here's an idea on how you can create a belated birthday card. My challenge for these cards was that I didn't have a stamp that mentioned "be-lated". I have to laugh because I must have over 100 stamp sets....

Card Base: Recollections Ivory (5 1/2 x 4). I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Die distress ink.
Pattern Paper: This was in my scraps and I don't recall the manufacturer....sorry.
Stamp Set: Clock - Tim Holtz. I stamped this on cream colored card stock then distress inked it.
Wings - ?. I won a stamp set at a scrapbooking event I went to about 4 years ago. I'm
                   pretty sure it's Tim Holtz.
Sentiment: I hand cut blue and yellow then wrote "Time Flies". My best attempt at calligraphy. Same goes for the inside.

Card Base: Bazzill (5 1/2 x 4 1/4)
Pattern Paper: Teresa Collins (5 1/4 x 4)
Stamp Sets: Clouds and Thought Bubble - Lawn Fawn
Snail - Recollections (I colored it with copic markers)
Sentiment: "So Sorry" - Paper Smooches
...."I missed your..." I typed this  and printed it out on white card stock.
Misc: Grass - I had to hand cut this because my Fiskars punch fell apart on me :-(.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a sunshiny day!
