Just A Scrappin' DT 1 - 4th of July Challenge

Happy 4th of July Everyone! Here in our suburban California neighborhood we all go out into the streets with our portable bar-b-ques, potluck, play football (well I dont' play football)...At 9:00 p.m. the city puts on the most amazing fireworks show. It's alot of fun.

Here is my card for the "4th of July" Challenge for July. I created this on a 5 1/2 x 4 inch Recollections pre-scored cream colored card stock. The tan colored craft card stock was cut 5 1/2 x 3, embossed with the Cuttlebug Stars Folder then the edges are inked with Versa Magic Night Sky. I used an Ek Success punch on the bottom. The red, white, blue and green paper comes from the DCWV Americana paperstack. I bought this last year. It's cut at 5 1/2 x 3 also but tucked under the top layer. I bought ribbon from Remember When Scrapbooking last night. It's similar to hem ribbon. The Hero Arts "Celebrate" stamp was heat embossed with Judikins Red embossing power. Last, the sticks for the pin wheels are tiny dowels from Michaels. I inked them with Versa Mark Red Magic and Night Sky. The pin wheels were made from a 1 inch x 1 inch square and held together by a Recollections white star. This was a really fun card to make. I hope you all enjoy!

I'm putting the card making aside today. My niece has asked I create a scrapbook album for her (my great nephew) baby! I'm going through all my embellishments and paper now then printing the pics she emailed me. Shame, I haven't even done my boys' albums yet and their 14 and 17. I'll get to it tho' cause I have the rest of my wonderful life to do so.
You all have a great day and I look forward to seeing the 4th of July creations!

Anniversary Card - You're so Tweet

Here's another Anniversary Card. It's a 5 1/2 x 4 inch card base. I faux stitched it all around. The 3/4 inch heart is from Simply Charmed and the 3 inch birds are from Doodlecharms. The little pink flower was just something I had in my "stuff". The anniversary stamp is Hero Arts but I'm not sure where I got the other one.
I attempted to do a youtube video but my cute dogs kept barking. I gave up.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Anniversary Card

I went by the store where my cards are for sale and took inventory. I'm running low on Anniversary Cards a few others so I'll spend some time today making some. The 4 1/4x 5 1/2 black card base is Colorbok that I bought at Walmart. I like that it's got a little bit of texture to it. The 4 x 5 1/4 stripped card stock comes from a Recollection variety pack I bought at Michaels. The oval scallop is from Life's A Beach Cricut cartridge. The black is cut at 2 3/4 and the cream is cut at 2 1/4. The sentiment is Hero Arts using Momento black in and the bling is from Recollections. Birthday Card with a sparkling cake

Birthday Card with a sparkling cake
I was inspired by a magazine I bought at Joanns called "Quick Cards". It came with a really cute stamp set.
The 5 1/2 x 4 white base of the card is Recollections. The stripped card stock has a hint of glitter but I don't remember where this came from. The single sheet was in my supplies. It's cut at 5 x 3 3/4. I then cut a pink piece from DCWV Shimmer stack and white card stock just slightly smaller. I stamped the birthday cake and colored it in whith Gelly Roll glitter pens. I used glossy accents on the ribbon to pop it up a bit. I used a punch from Martha Steward that adhered the ribbon onto it. The scalled punch is Ek Sucess. I stamped on it, popped it up with a large foam adhesive and colored it with the the Gelly Roll pens. Watch how I made this youtube.com/sunshinecreation and subscribe!

Birthday Card with a present

Birthday Card with a present
I just uploaded a video youtube.com/sunshinecreation showing how simple it is to make this card. It's quick and easy. I used the Celebrations Cricut cartridge. The 5 1/2 x 4 card base is Recollections. I covered it with a 5 1/2 x 4 vibrant blue textured card stock (not sure the name brand). The present is cut at 4 1/2 (could have cut it at 4 1/4). The ribbon is from my local scrapbooking store (Remember When).
Hope you enjoy and don't forget to subscribe to youtube.com/sunshinecreation.
Thanks,
Kimberly

Birthday Card for with a cupcake

Birthday Card with a cupcake and sprinkles
I found this paper at my local scrapbooking store. It has cupcakes, ice-cream cones, donuts, candy...It's from Best Creation, Inc. The base of the 5 1/2 x 4 card is from Recollections, I then put a 5 1/2 x 4 layer of Shimmer from DCWV, a 3 x 2 piece of white card stock with a cupcake stamped on it, oh and celebrate, then a pink 3 x 2 piece of DCWV pink Shimmer punch with an Ek Sucess punch. A ribbon was added for "flavor" plus I stapled it with my Tim Holtz stapler. It's hard to tell in the picture but I colored it with Martha Stewart Glitter Pens then used a dark brown Viva Pearl Pen to put the chocolate sprinkles on it. That gave it a little bit of dimension.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Birthday Card for a Female

Birthday Card for a Female
I had noticed that my scrap bin was getting quite full so me, being the frugal person that I am, pulled out a couple of pieces and made this card. It is my first attempt to create a handmade rosette...cough cough...if you could call it that. I need to practice more. I've uploaded a video on how I put this together on youtube.com/sunshincreation. You'll probably want to speed up through the part that I was struggling with putting the rosette together. I have the Rosettes and Ribbons Cricut cartidge. I'm going to be pulling that out and looking through the instructions.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

For those of you who are stampers, you should check out http://www.avocadoarts.com/. I met Michelle, from Avocado Arts, last year at a stamper expo and immediately fell in love with the stamps. I am a member of the stamp of the month club. I used the stamps to make this card. You can check out how I did it on youtube.com/sunshinecreation.

Scrapbook Layout - Whale Watching pg 1

Scrapbook Layout - Whale Watching pg 1and 2
My friend and I went Scrapbooking last night...well, we got there at 3:00 p.m. and left at 11:00. I love doing that 'cause at home I get too many interruptions and can't seem to get a page done. I got 6 pages done total last night.
Here are 2 completed pages. I bought a paper pack from Big Lots and used 2 sheets from there. On page 1, the layer came from the Scrapbook Expo. I bought a bunch of those for just .10 each. I used the Traveler Cricut cartridge to make the Life Bouy (did I spell that right?) cut at 6 inches so the picture would fit. The rope is red and white baker's twine. The font and anchor is also is also from Traveler.
All in all it was a great trip. My motion sickness patch started to wear off on the return home so I sat up at the top of the boat outside. It kept me from feeding the fish...if you know what I mean.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Just-A-Scrappin Design Team Challenge 1

Just-A-Scrappin Design Team Challenge 1 This is my very own design idea. I used green Bazzil card stock as the base cut at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. Using a Martha Stewart corner and border punch I punched the right corner and bottom of the card. The flowered/striped, 2 sided layer, is from Sweet Threads which I bought at Michaels Craft Store. It's cut at 5 1/2 x 3 3/4. I used Tim Holtz Peeled Paint distress ink on both the 4 x 4 white card stock, also using the Martha Steward punch, and the Sweet Threads paper. The ribbon is Offray from Joanns. I tied it around the card stock first, adhered it down, using my ATG gun, then folded the left corner down lining it up. I punched a small hole, placing the Recollections brad from Micheals, and then put a large circle foam adhesive dot on the back to help it stick but at the same time popping it up a bit. The "thinking of you" stamp is from Hero Arts. So, I hope you all like it and can't wait to see all of our Design Team creations!!!!

Scrapbook Page - Hearst Castle

Well, I mostly create cards but I try, at least once a month, to go scrapbooking. I'm in the process of doing our Hearst Castle trip (2008 better late than never). Here's the first page.

Here's page 2. It was so beautiful there.
Hi everyone,
If you're a Cricut person, I just received in the mail "Fabulous Finds". Oh my gosh it is so great! There's so much in there! Go on the provo craft website and look it oup. If you can't buy it right now but see something you like just let me know and I'll be happy to cut the item(s) for you. It's SO cute!

4th of July Card

If you haven't had the opportunity to use Martha Stewarts punches you should go onto the website and check out all the great projects you can do with them. I used the Star Punch around and a corner punch on this card. I didn't do a video on this one. It's Recollections white card base 5 1/2 x4. I cut the stripped layer the same size and adhered to the card. I then punched the corner. I put a 5 1/2 x 3 inch stip down the middle after I punched it. Then a 3 x 2 1/2 inch white card stock piece of paper stamped with Happy 4th of July and star brads. I inked the edges with a red Color Box ink.

4th of July - Hope

We sometimes forget why we are a country that offers us freedom. Our troops are amazing! This one is created with them in mind. I used the Recollections 5 1/2 x 4 white card stock as a base. The blue shimmering layer is the same size. I bought 4 of the blue sheet from Michaels when they went on sale 4 for $1.00. Super bargain, right? The checked paper is from the DCWV Americana paper pack. I used a Fiscars scallop punch then a Martha Stewart circle punch at last a Martha Steward star punch. The ribbon punch is EK success. Stand and Salute Cricut cartridge has the ribbon cut in it. I used Celebrate sparkly blue ribbon and ruffled it...is that what it's called...ruffled? Hmmm..not sure. I didn't have time to do a video on this cause I'm getting ready to go on vacation and am running out of time...
Enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

4th of July Celebrate Patchwork

This was fun and quick card to make. For instructions on how I put it together you can view it on youtube.com/sunshinecreation. The base card is Recollection 5 1/2 x 4. I used blue Color Box ink to stamp the stars. Not sure where I got that stamp from. I heat embossed the word "Celebrate". The squares I punched using a Marvy 1 3/4 punch using the scraps from my previous cards. The buttons are from a variety pack I bought through Oriental Trading Company (love this site!). I threaded beading twine through the puttons, faux stitched it with white gel pen and was done!
Enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

4th of July - Statue of Liberty Card

This is a Vintage themed 4th of July card.
As I viewed the video for this one (youtube.com/sunshinecreation) I realized I had given some wrong info.
The card base is a cream cardstock out of a 500 page pack I bought at Staples. The striped layer has been distress with the Tim Holtz distressing tool then I used Tea Dye and the distressing tool to do the edges. Next was the finger dauber with the same color doing around the edges. The 1 1/2 inch flowers are from Mother's Day Bouquet #17 on the over lay mat. It does not come with a manual. I distressed the edges first, punched a tiny whole in the middle and inserted the shiny star brad from Recollections. I quickly sprayed the flower with water, folded it up and let it dry that way. The blue mat is from Lacy Labels not Elegant Edges. It's #13 on the manual cut at 4.5 inches. The Statue of Liberty is from Stand and Salute cut at 4 inches. I used the Cri-Kits pens for her, cut her out and distressed the edges. I used foam adhesive strips to pop her up for dimension.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Here's a really simple and fun card to make. I just uploaded a video youtube.com/sunshinecreation that explains how I put it all together. The base is 5 1/2 x 4 Recollections pre-scored white card stock. I then sprayed the 5 1/4 x 3 3/4 inch red layer with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. The blue card stock is shimmery (is that a word?) cut at 5 x 3 1/2 and embossed with the Cuttlebug star embossing folder. I found the red ribbon in the dollar bin at Michaels. The 1 inch scallop punch is Fiskars. I used Viva Pearl pen for the accent on the scallops. The Celebrate stamp has been in my collection for a while so I'm not sure where I got it from.

4th of July All American Hamburger

4th of July All American Hamburger
OMG...the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge is so much fun! Here's a different kind of 4th of July card.
I used DCWV "The Guy" paper stack. I wish I would have found this sooner because the designs would have been perfect for Father's Day cards. The hamburger is cut out at 2 inches and the phrase cut out at 3/4. I've uploaded a video youtube.com/sunshinecreation so you can see how it is all put together.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

4th of July All American Hot Dog

4th of July All American Hot Dog
Here's a little twist on the typical red, white and blue 4th of July card. On the inside of the card I used a Hero Arts stamp "Happy 4th of July". The paper is from DCWV "The Guy". I just found it at Michaels and wish I would have seen it earlier because there's a lot of great designs for Father's Day cards. Oh well, next year. The hot dog is from Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge. Cut at 2 inches. The phrase is cut at 3/4. They are both on page 39. I've just uploaded a video youtube.com/sunshinecreation that shows how to put it all together. I'm uploading the hamburger as I am writing. Such CUTE cuts...I can't stand it.
Hope you like it and have a sun shiny day.

Ladies...if there is anyway you can find Tags, Bags, Boxes and more Cricut cartridge you must buy it. I wanted this cartridge FOREVER but it was retired. I found it at Michaels a few days ago for ust $40. I made this gift box for a friend of mine who's husband is a doctor. You can put a gift card in it, his favorite candy, cologne...I did a video on youtube.com/sunshinecreation on how to assemble it. I'm going to be doing a video series on this cartridge after I return from my vacation on June 27.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiney day.

Decorative Tag - Green Butterfly

Decorative Tag
Here's a decorative tag I made for the ladies at my son's school. I used Tim Holtz distress ink, Sizzix embossing dotted swiss folder, ribbon from my scrap bin and at the bottom I punched it with the new Fiscars punch then laced through a green ric rac piece.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Here's another tag I made for the ladies at my son's school. I used Tim Holtz distress ink, flower and butter I bought at Michaels and the ribbon is from my scrap bin. The butterfly stamp is something I have had for a long time so I can't remember where I got it from.

Decorative Tag - Green Bling

Decorative Tag
Here's a another example of the Decorative Tag I gave to one of the office ladies at my son's school. Big High Schooler now..The tag was bought at Michaels using my 40% off coupon. I distressed it with Tim Holtz ink, punched the bottom but also punched a pink stripe piece I had in my scraps and added it. I looked through my pearl bling and found a strand to add to the bottom. The green swirl bling I bought at the Scrapbooking Expo in Oceanside, Ca for only $1.00. The flower is from Recollections and then just some random ribbon.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!
Kimberly

Decorative Tag - Blue Bird

Decorative Tag
I made a bunch of Decorative Tags as a thank you gift to the ladies in the Middle School office my son attended. He's going into 9th grade..yikes. I bought the tag at Michaels with my 40% off coupon..thank you very much..lol. I embossed it with a Sizzix embossing folder. I used Tim Holtz distress ink and a small foam fingertip to go over the birds and flowers. The punch at the bottom is a Fiskars ribbon punch (love, love these!) and two random flower I had in my stash. I added a small pearl in the middle. On the back of the tag I personalized it with my message.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Mother's Day Card - Mums the word

Mother's Day Card
This is a card that I made for Mother's Day. I used my Sew Easy (still trying to figure that out), a punch and flower from Recollections and a Shrinky Dink embellishment using a scallop punch. I posted a video on youtube/sunshinecreation for a Birthday Youth Card that shows how to use the Shrinky Dink. I'm an amateur but am determined to figure out how to do it more easily.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Birthday Youth Card - Celebrate

Birthday Day Youth Card
Have you heard of Shrinky Dinks? Well, if you haven't here's a card that gives you an example of what it looks like. The 5 1/2 x 4 card base is the cream color from Recollections. The lime green bought at Michaels in a variety paper pack cut 5 1/4 x 3 3/4. The balloon layer is from K & Co. Confetti paper pack cut at 5 1/4 x 4. If you don't have the Celebrations Cricut cartridge yet you should really consider buying it. It's so much fun. The balloons are cut at 3 inches.  If you need instruction on how to use the Shrinky Dinks check out my video at youtube.com/sunshinecreation. It's tricky. I used a scallop punch and did a cute Mother's Day card. I'll post that one as well.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

In addition to Bob's Print and Mail Center asking me to display and sell my cards and crafts in his store I've also been chosen to join the design team at Just-A-Scrappin with Patti. Check out her blog "just-a-scrappin.blogspot.com" on June 21st and you'll see all the wonderful designs. I'm sure to be inspired. It's a dream come true.

Wedding Card

Wedding Card
I think this card is very unique. I used Recollections pre-scored card base which is 5 1/2 x 4 in the cream color. I cut the grey shimmer paper the size size. The cream colored card stock is from a paper pack I bought at staples. It's cut at 5 1/4 x 3 3 3/4. I embossed it with the dotted swiss folder. I bought the heart lace at JoAnns and used 1/8 in score tape to adhere it down. The base of the pink square is 3 3/4 x 3 and the heart paper (bought at JoAnns during Valentine's Day) is 3 1/2 x 2 3/4. I used the same grey shimmering paper for the first layer of the card and the base layer of the stamped cake. It's 2 x 3. I stamped the cake then colored parts of it with my momento makers. You can watch how I did this on youtube.com/sunshinecreation.

Thank You Card - Teacher

Thank You Card - Teacher
I had alot of fun with this one! The base of the card is a lime green cut at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. The black layer is DCWV textured paper cut at 5 1/4 x 4. I found this really thin cork at Michaels. It's cut at 2 1/2 x 4. The 1 inch apples (welded with my Gypsy)are from Create A Critter as well as the 2 inch owl. I've got to look through my cricut manuals because I can't remember where I found the "Thank You". I hand wrote the information on what looks like the chalk board and faux stitched the border.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day.

Thank You Card - Teacher

Thank You Card - Teacher
A friend of mine asked that I make her a thank you card for her son's teacher. Here's what I created. I used the Recollections pre-scored cards as a base then cut a 5 1/2 x 4 gold textured piece from DCWV paper pack and black cut at 5 x 3 3/4. The notebook paper is Simply Charmed cut at 3 inches. Is that adorable or what? The Thank You was on that same cartridge. The pencil design paper doesn't have a name on it but I'm 99% sure I bought it at JoAnns. I used a Recollections punch for the bottom and then added some faux stitching with my white gel pen.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Birthday Card for a female

Birthday Card for a female
I absolutely love this design where there are accents on the left side, ribbon down the middle and the tag. Pink and black look so beautiful together, right? This card is a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 using a white card base that opens up vertically. The first layer is basic black card stock cut at 5 1/4 x 4, then the pink card stock cut at 5 x 3 3/4. I found the K & Company accents in the dollar bucket a Joanns. These would look great on a scrapbook layout as well. I purchased the ribbon from Michaels. The tag is a stamp that I cut out then the Happy Birthday stamp was in my stamp sets.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Note Card - Thank You Daisy
I used some basic stamping techniques with memento ink pens. First I stamped the frame that I got from my local scrapbooking discount bucket. It had journaling lines on it but by using the mememto pens I only colored the frame. Then I used the Thank You from a Fiskers stamp set I bought at Michaels. The flower stamp I've had for so long. I don't remember where I bought it. I cut the card stock at 4 x 5 1/2 so that it opens verticlly.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Note Card - Hello Marigolds
I've been creating note cards over the last few days. Here's one using a 5 1/2 x 4 inch forest green card stock. Now this is a bit bigger than most note cards but I am in such a habit creating all occasion cards that after I already started creating it I realized what I had done. Inside I put a cream colored card stock for the writing. I used a Fiskars ribbon punch which I did not put ribbon in but am relying on the card stock inside to bring out the design. I hand stamped and cut out the flowers using a stamp set I had bought at Micheals a long time ago. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. You can watch me meak this on youtube.com/sunshinecreation.
Enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Baby Card for a li'l girl
Here is the Baby Girl Card I made using the Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge. The base card stock is Recollections pre-scored card stock. I cut the 5 1/2 x 4 layer the same size as the card using DCWV Itsy Bitsy 8 x 8 cardstock. The pink base layer is cut at 3 3/4 x 3 3/4. The patterened layer is the back sidde of the pink flower paper cust at 3 1/2 x 3 1/2. The baby and all the layers were cut at 2 3/4. I used American Crafts ribbon that I bought on line. For her face I used Peachy Keen stamp set.
Hope you enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Father's Day Card
Yep this one is for Dad...I used a brown base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card stock from Bazzill and lined it with a cream colored card stock cut at 5 1/4 x 4 so it can be written on in the inside. The tan colored card stock was cut at 3 x 2 1/2. This was included in a card kit I had bought through my local scrapbooking place so I don't know the name. The brown paisley card stock is from Recollections Love Letters paper stack and was cut at 3 x 2 1/2 also. I tucked it under the cream card stock a bit to make the adjustment. There is a very thin brown ribbon seperating the two. The letters are glitter Thickers. The banners were cut at 2 inches and I used the Phrases Cricut cartridge for those then added the ribbon ties and popped them up.
Enjoy and have a sun shiny day.
Kimberly
Father's Day Card
A bit more serious of a Father's Day card but one of my favorites. The 5 1/4 x 4 inch card base is navy blue, textured and a lot thicker than your typical card stock. I had bought it on line but for the life of me cannot remember the source. I used a set of stamps from Kittie Caracciolo that I bought at a scrapbooking convention in Oceanside last year. They are called "Cause a Scene" and so fun to work with. The Happy Father's Day stamp is from Hero Arts. It's hard to tell int he picture but I stamped the image on vellum using Staz On black ink and backed it up with a piece of white card stock. It's cut at 2 3/4 x 3. The silver brads I used are from Oriental Trading. Inside the card I lined it with a 5 x 3 3/4 inch white cardstock so I could write on the inside.
Enjoy and have a sun shiny day!
Kimberly
Father's Day Card
Here's a card for a Dad who's into Nascar. This creation starts out with a 5 1/2 x 4 inch card base which I cut so that it opens vertically. I found the checkered paper at Remembering When Scrapbooking and used the Phrases Cricut cartridge for the flags and #1 Dad. I cut them at two inches. I had some yellow twine which I used to make it look like the flags were hanging. The red card stock was cut at 5 1/4 x 3 3/4 then layered with black card stock cut at 5 x 3 1/2. I used my gel pen to do the faux stiching.
Enjoy and have a sun shiny day!
Father's Day Card
My husband plays guitar so I made this one for him. I used Recollection pre-scored card stock as the base. Then using Memento Tuxedo Black, I stamped the music notes with a Judi Kins rubber stamp I bought at the Anaheim Scrapbooking Expo last year. The guitar and "You Rock", and alphabet acrylic stamp is from Michaels. I stamped the guitar on a seperate piece of paper, cut it out then popped it up with Recollections foam adhesives.
Enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Father's Day Card
Here's a really cute Father's Day card. First, I have to thank Mary at Cardztv for inspiring me. The shirt and Happy Father's Day phrase is from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge cut at 3 inches. The craft card base is 5 1/2 x 4 which I bought at Michales Craft Store. The light blue paper was a scrap piece that I used for both the layer cut at 5 1/4 x 3 3/4 inches. I then used a 5 x 3 1/2 piece of craft card and embossed it. I borrowed Mary's idea by using the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge (a must have cartridge) using craft card stock and again a scrap that has a slight pasley print on it. I have the cutest button brades that worked perfectly for the shirt color.
Thank you again, Mary, for your inspiration and hope you all have a sun shiny day.

Birthday Card for a female
Faux stiching always looks so nice on cards. On this one I used a template which really helped me in keeping the stiches straight. Enjoy and have a sun shiny day!
Birthday Card for a female
I tried a new technique with score tape and a ribbon stip to make a flower. Of course the swirl bling always adds such a nice touch. Enjoy and have a sun shiny day!

Baby Card for a newborn baby boy
I used the Baby Steps Cricut cartridge to create this one. The card stock is Recollections 5.5 x 4, the base layer is DCWV Itsy Bitsy paper stack. I used a glimmering yellow card stock for the moon and light blue Bazzil card stock for the cloud and hat accents. "Welcome Little One" is from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge. Everything was cut at 3 1/2 inches. Enjoy and hope you have a sun shiny day!
